We have also included a few features that you should look at before choosing a holster and this will ensure that you do find the perfect one that meets your needs. Why you should look at the Glock 23:

As we have already mentioned, the Glock 23 is not the most common gun found on the streets by civilians and it closely competes with the Glock 19. Both are similar in terms of the built and they have the same size, which means their holsters are also exactly the same. The key difference is the amount of round carried in the magazine and the Glock 23 can only carry 13 compared to the Glock 19’s ability to carry 15.

However, even though it is tougher to control, it does more damage and it uses a .40 caliber cartridge. This high-velocity round does have more recoil than the standard 9mm, but the wound capabilities are that much better. If you are trying to do damage to your attacker and keep them from getting up and chasing, the .40 caliber cartridge will definitely make a massive difference.

To conclude, the Glock 23 will require much more training and you will need to shoot often to stay aware of the recoil. It might be tough to handle at first, but once you have the feeling, the weapon should be a great tool that can be used to defend yourself. With this additional training, you might not even need the additional 2 rounds of the Glock 19.

Key features to look for in a holster:

Whether you are choosing a Glock 23 or any other weapon, having a comfortable holster is equally important and if you find yourself in precarious situations, you should be able to rely on the holster just as much as the firearm. In addition, it can be quite embarrassing if you are strolling down the street or bending over and the weapon accidentally falls out. Here is the most important feature to look at when buying a holster:

  • Type: The type of the holster is quite important and you will want to invest in a holster that is easy and comfortable to carry around. Women might not like the idea of a holster in the waistband and this is where band holsters and shoulder holsters are comfortable and still offer access to the weapon.
  • Materials: Leather is definitely the strongest and most durable, but it is also quite pricey and you will need to maintain it. Other holsters like the Kydex holsters are also comfortable and they are a little cheaper. Nevertheless, you will need to see what fits your budget and which material is the most comfortable,
  • Ventilation holes: While a holster might look nice, it can also become extremely warm to carry around and having ventilation holes will make it much more breathable and comfortable to carry around. Most modern holsters are now equipped with ventilation or breathing holes, especially if it’s meant to be carried next to your skin.
  • Safety strap: The safety strap is fundamentally important if you have a larger weapon and it will keep the firearm from falling out. It adds an extra layer of security. However, you may also look at fitted holsters and these are designed specifically for firearm models and they will keep the gun in place while offering you quick access.
  • Can it hold accessories: If you are into sport shooting events and you would like to include your combat laser on the firearm, your holster should be able to carry the rail mount of the laser as well. This saves you time from mounting it and you will have everything ready for your combat moments.
  • Extra storage: Many of us love carrying additional magazines and since the Glock 23 can only hold 13 rounds per magazine, you should look for the ability to carry additional magazines. This will ensure that you never run out of ammunition in those crucial stages and could help you with defense on the streets.
  • Ambidextrous: It just makes sense that a right-handed shooter should have a right-handed holster and a left-handed shooter should have a left-handed holster. This increases the reaction time and you will not be caught off guard.  If the holster is ambidextrous, this will be even better and you could use it to carry the weapon on either side.

These are the 7 main features you should look for when purchasing a holster of any kind and for any weapon. The Glock 23 is revolutionary weapon that does great when it comes to self-defense and having all of these features tailored to your liking, will make the gun that much better to carry around during everyday life.

Which one will you pick?

While choosing the correct holster is not always easy, we would like to recommend all of these Glock 23 models for the value they offer and the price. They have all been tested and the versatility they offer is quite remarkable.
